I’ve received MANY questions about the timeline of #Coronavirus (and about quarantine timelines) which is largely due so much misinformation on when you’re sick, contagious, and when you start to get better.
So, here’s a timeline, based off of the latest research, to help make sense of the #s and dates.
- Day 0 – day exposed
- Day 2 – first day that *could* test positive
- Day 4 – While there are still often no symptoms yet, this is the first average day that a person is contagious
- Day 5 – On average – first day of symptoms development (While 97.5% of patients develop symptoms by 11.5 days, 5.2 days is the median
- Day 10 – People who develop severe infection, typically develop worsening symptoms on day 10
- Day 11/12 – people with mild symptoms start to be less contagious
- Day 14 – People with significant symptoms start to be less contagious (people who have severe illness/ require hospitalization often can be contagious for longer periods, which is why they’re advised isolation on average of 21 days)
