What’s It Like To Work On Thanksgiving?

How do we ER doctors and teams celebrate Thanksgiving (or any other holiday) when we’re working? What about the countless other professions who are “ON” for the holidays?

**make sure not to miss the extra photos at the end of the clip!**
With all the changes to Thanksgiving this year – I know so many of you are disappointed about not being able to see your extended family (as I am, as well) – and I thought – what BETTER way to help us all, than to hear the stories from those for whom being away from family for holidays is the norm?
I’m talking:
First responders
Nurses
Firefighters
Doctors
A freight train conductor (I know – who knew?)
Military service members
I was AMAZED and inspired by their stories – and I think you will be, too.
Share this with a loved one struggling with being apart this holiday – and I challenge ALL of us – to make this Thanksgiving a memorable one, but for all the right reasons. 🙂
All my love,
Dr. D.
*PS – I’ll post tomorrow also on specific ways that you can create *new* traditions with your family this year – stay tuned and on the looking for it!!
*PPS – A HUGE thank you to EVERYONE who contributed to this piece – I heard from so many of you and it just made my heart explode. Whether or not I could include your photo or story, know that your experiences were heard, and I’m so so grateful for you. If you have photos or stories like these, please send them to me – [email protected]
